Boone County, KY : Driver jumps out of tanker truck just before it crashes, catches on fire Tuesday morning, November 25, 2014
A medical helicopter was called to Northern Kentucky for a crash involving a tractor-trailer Tuesday morning, according to emergency communications.
Initial dispatch reports indicate the crash occurred about 11:15 a.m. on Dale Williamson Road near the intersection of Big Jimmy Hill Road in Boone County.
The driver, Dave Hissong, 41, bailed out of the truck as it came down Big Jimmy Hill Rd., which is a long, 45-degree hill. He was alert and conscious when transported to University Hospital by AirCare helicopter. He was en route from Tipp City to Louisville with a 6,000-gallon load of food waste mixed with water.
"He was apparently lost," said Boone County Sheriff's Department spokesman Tom Scheben.
