Wapato,WA : Rear-end collision injures Yakima woman on June, Thursday 15th 2017

A 20-year-old Yakima woman was injured when her car struck an SUV on Interstate 82 about 1 mile west of Wapato on Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 2:24 p.m. when Lara Valeria’s westbound Pontiac G6 struck the back of a GMC Yukon driven by Larry Stewart, 46, of Zillah, who had slowed for traffic, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Valeria was taken to Virginia Mason Memorial hospital and was still being evaluated in the hospital’s emergency center as of early Thursday evening.

Troopers said Valeria would be cited for following too close. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and intoxicants were not involved, the state patrol said.
