TAYLORS, SC : Man killed after car collapses on top of him in Greenville on May, Monday, 22nd 2017
The Greenville County coroner responded to calls of a vehicle falling on a person Monday afternoon.
The incident was reported on Highland Street in Taylors.
Per deputies, EMS was called to the scene at 1:10 p.m. after the family discovered a man was pinned under a car. They say the jack had failed and the vehicle collapsed on the man.
The coroner later identified the victim as Jesus G. Olvera-Castelan, 73 of Taylors.
Per the coroner, the man was working in a vehicle at a family member's residence when the automotive jack appeared to have become dislodged from under the vehicle, which resulted in the vehicle falling on him.
The family member came home to find Olvera-Castelan under the vehicle, the coroner's report continues.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office and Taylors Fire Department were able to left the vehicle off of the man and remove him. He was pronounced dead on scene.
An autopsy will be performed Tuesday.
The case is under investigation by the sheriff's office and coroner's office.
