Brandon, FL : Hit and run crash haunts Brandon couple
David Lindsay winced and groaned as he got out of a car at his Brandon home.
He just returned from Tampa General Hospital almost a week after he and his wife, Connie, riding on his motorcycle, were thrown the ground in a serious crash.
David said he was going south on Bell Shoals Road with his wife on the back when he got to an area where there's a driveway that turns into the Walmart.
Lindsay says somebody made a left turn right into them.
Both hit the pavement hard. The crash broke David's leg above his foot, and destroyed Connie's knee.
David remembers the aftermath.
“And I look over and my wife is laying on the ground there, and I couldn't help her, so, the lady is still sitting there in the vehicle and I just said, ‘can you help us?’ And she leaves,” said Lindsay.
But, the Lindsays claim she didn’t leave not right away. Connie has a vivid memory of the woman in the gold Lexus SUV before she sped off.
“It was a cold moment. It was really cold. I mean, it was like ice ran through her veins or something,” she said.
The Lindsays have a part from the Lexus that wedged into David's bike, which they hope will help catch the culprit.
The couple runs a charity for homeless veterans called Liberty Manor, and they're dedicated to helping others.
Now, they want witnesses to help them to find the woman who hit them.
“I don't know how she could sleep at night,” said David Lindsay.
“Do the right thing. Step up,” said Connie Lindsay.
That woman is described as white, about 48 to 55 years old, with shoulder-length blond hair.
She drives a gold Lexus SUV with damage to the front passenger side.
