Sarasota, FL : Woman critically injured in car crash on U.S. 41 and Phillippi Isle on Saturday, February 14, 2015

An Iowa woman was critically injured Saturday in a car crash near the intersection of U.S. 41 and Phillippi Isle.

Patricia Kathleen Clark, 83, of Clinton, Iowa, was a passenger in a 2015 Chevy Malibu that collided with another vehicle about 11:30 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The collision caused the Malibu to spin out of control and it hit a concrete base used to support a sign in front of the Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar Restaurant at 5353 S. Tamiami Trail. Clark was taken to Blake Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition late Saturday afternoon.

The driver of the Malibu, Debra Ann Peterson, 61, of Bryant, Iowa, and a second passenger in the car, Cynthia Sue Hanssen, 57, of Davenport, Iowa, were not injured.
