Seven people, including six students, were injured in a crash involving a school bus Thursday morning near Bellshire Elementary Design Center in Madison. The crash happened around 8:15 a.m. on Bell Grimes Lane at Ridgemont Drive east of Brick Church Pike. Police on the scene said the bus was stopped at a bus stop when 27-year-old Katherine Swalboski, who was driving a 2003 Monte Carlo, rear-ended the bus. Police said the driver was blinded by the sun and didn't see the stopped school bus. There were approximately 63 students were on board the bus at the time of the crash. Other students were still boarding the bus. The driver of the car that hit the bus was transported to Skyline Medical Center with injuries sustained after her airbag deployed. Five students were also transported to Skyline Medical Center with minor injuries described as bumps and bruises. A sixth student was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center at the parents' request. The uninjured students were off-loaded on to another bus. The bus driver remained on the scene with the children immediately following the accident. Swalboski was cited for careless driving. Source : Students injured in Madison school bus crash
