Delta County,CO : One dead in Delta County crash on Wednesday ,June 17th 2015

More details have emerged from Wednesday night’s fatal accident in Schaffer.

At 7:09 p.m. a pick-up truck carrying seven occupants, including minors, struck a vehicle with two occupants.

The driver of the second car, a 29-year-old male from the Schaffer area, was killed. According to the Delta County Sheriff’s Department, all nine occupants were transported to the hospital, including one that was airlifted to UP Health System Marquette.

According to preliminary investigations, the pick-up truck was heading westbound on the Felch Grade Trail when it failed to yield at the E.5 Road intersection.

Although nothing is official yet, the sheriff’s department say charges may be pending.

“This whole case will go before the prosecutor; anytime we get a bad accidents it’s going to," said Delta County Sheriff Ed Oswald. "We’ll do the investigation and then the prosecutor makes a decision on what he will do with the charges in an accident like this.”
