Ocala, FL : 9 injured in crash in the 6100 block of SR 40 West on Monday, 17th February, 2020

Nine people were transported to area hospitals, two under trauma alert, following a three-vehicle crash Monday morning on State Road 40 West in Ocala, according to Ocala Fire Rescue.

The agency’s public information officer, Ashley Lopez, stated in a press release that multiple units responded to the crash, which happened about 7:42 a.m. in the 6100 block of SR 40 West.

“Crews arrived at the scene to find multiple patients on the ground and a vehicle on fire,” she wrote. A “brown pickup truck was occupied by seven individuals – five of which were seated in the bed of the truck and ejected upon impact. The white pick-up truck and compact SUV each held one occupant.”

According to Lopez, Marion County Fire Rescue, including a district captain and multiple medical units, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Ocala Police Department also responded to the crash scene.
