The names of the two people who were killed in a crash Thursday night in Mooresville have been released.
Mark Anthony Eckles, 47, and Brian Kevin Gray, 47, both of Statesville, died after the truck they were in collided with a tractor-trailer and caught fire, according to the Mooresville Police Department.
The crash was reported shortly after 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of Oak Ridge Farm Highway (150) and Wiggins Road, near East Mooresville Intermediate School.
According to Mooresville police, the tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on Oak Ridge Farm Highway. The driver drove left of the center line to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle waiting to turn left, and collided with the westbound Chevrolet pickup, driven by Eckles.
The intersection was shut down for about seven hours following the crash, said Brian Weatherman, South Iredell Fire Department chief.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mooresville Police Department. No charges have been announced.
