FERNLEY, NV : 17-year-old killed crossing US 50A near Fernley casino on Monday, March 13th 2017
The Nevada Highway Patrol says a 17-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a minivan on U.S. Highway 50-A near Fernley.
Trooper Dan Gordon said Tuesday the fatal crash was reported at about 6:15 p.m. Monday in front of the Pioneer Crossing casino.
Investigators say teen apparently was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.
He was taken to a Reno hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His name wasn’t immediately made public.
The highway patrol says the driver of the Chrysler Town and Country van remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Fernley is about 30 miles east of Reno.
