BELTON, TX : An accident occurred in Belton on Sunday, October, 29th 2017

An accident occurred in Belton just before 2:37 p.m. on the Interstate 14 frontage road between Kirkley Drive and Wheat Road, city of Belton spokesman Paul Romer said.

The vehicle was headed west on I-14 when it lost control and rolled onto the frontage road.

Radio traffic said one person was ejected from the overturned vehicle, but Romer didn’t know if someone was ejected, he said.

An activated medical helicopter was canceled after first responders arrived at the scene. The first responders said two people were still in the vehicle.

One person was dead at the scene, and a white sheet covered the body until a tarp was strategically placed to protect it.

Debris was scattered over the roadway, and the vehicle was on its roof.

Westbound I-14 was backed up to the merge with I-35, and Belton Police officers redirected people off the access road.

The Belton Police Department and Belton Fire Department responded to the scene.

Two other people were transported to area hospitals after the Belton accident, but their conditions or identities weren’t known by press time.
