A Monday morning fire in Newark that displaced two residents and sent a cat to the veterinarian has been ruled accidental, the state fire marshal's office said Tuesday.
Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company personnel were called to the blaze at Clearview Ridge Townhomes, in the 400 block of Benham Court, at about 12:30 a.m., officials said.
Firefighters found flames shooting from the back and roofs of several townhomes. Three homes were damaged, two significantly.The two-alarm fire garnered response from other local fire departments, who helped extinguish the blaze.
A cat that was in one of the townhomes managed to escape to a back porch, where it was rescued and brought to paramedics for treatment.
