Portland, OR : Pedestrian injured in crash involving a Multnomah County Sheriff's deputy on Thursday, April 28, 2016

The Portland police major crash team is investigating an incident involving a Multnomah County Sheriff's deputy and a pedestrian.

The deputy was driving in his marked patrol vehicle at about 4 a.m. Thursday when the pedestrian was struck. The adult man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The police say preliminary indications show that the man was not in a crosswalk and in the road when he was hit.
