Greeley, CO : Man dies in I-25 traffic crash east of Mead on Monday, November 14th 2016
Colorado State Patrol troopers are investigating a traffic crash on Interstate 25 just east of Mead that left one man dead Monday morning.
According to Trooper Nate Reid, around 11:30 a.m. northbound traffic on the highway was slowing because of an earlier crash, in the area of mile marker 245. The man was driving a Geo, and he did not slow down with the flow of traffic.
The Geo struck the back of a box truck in the highway’s right lane, according to Reid. The car’s driver died on the scene.
Reid said the two men in the box truck were uninjured.
The victim has not been identified pending notification of family members.
It is the 48th death on Weld County roads and highways this year. By this time last year, there were 57 traffic-related deaths in the county.
