Bandon, OR : Two people killed in head-on crash on 101 near Bandon on Monday, June 30, 2014
An 80-year-old man from Bandon and a 64-year-old woman from San Franciso have been identified as the two people killed in a head-on collision along U.S. 101 near Bandon on Monday.
OSP said that the incident was reported about 3:30 p.m. According to the investigation, it appears a southbound Honda Accord driven by Donald William Dodge of Bandon "for unknown reasons" crossed the centerline into the northbound lane and collided with a Honda Element being driven by Virginia Simpson Woodson. OSP said both drivers died at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation. U.S. 101 was closed for about three hours after the wreck and restricted to one lane for another hour. Trooper Josh Mullins in the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Bandon Fire Department, Oregon Department of Transportation, Coos County District Attorney's Office, Coos County Medical Examiner's Office, Bandon Police Department, Myrtle Point Police Department, and North Bend Police Department.
