CHEROKEE COUNTY, OK ; 1 dead after crash in Cherokee County on Saturday, 3rd August 2024

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said one person is dead after a crash in Cherokee County on Saturday.

OHP said a car was traveling eastbound on Highway 251A near Fort Gibson around 4:30 p.m.

The car left the road at a curve on the east side of a dam. The car hit an embankment and caught on fire, becoming fully engulfed in flames.

The driver of the car has not been identified by OHP.

OHP said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
