A driver was killed when his car stalled on the 60 Freeway, got rear-ended and burst into flames late Tuesday night, according to the California High Patrol.

The male victim has not been identified.

The collision happened on the westbound 60 Freeway, east of Fairway Drive in Industry at 10:36 p.m.

CHP Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said a 1996 Toyota Corolla was heading west when for unknown reasons, it became disabled in the No. 1 lane.

He said a 2013 Chevrolet Express van traveling at about 70 mph in the same lane hit the Corolla.

The impact propelled the car and the van across all westbound lanes. Both vehicles burst into flames, Jimenez said.

The man driving the Corolla was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jimenez said the van’s driver, 36-year-old Jorge Vasquez of Menifee, complained of pain to his right toe. Vasquez wasn’t taken to a hospital.
