A 38-year-old man was killed in a single car accident in the South End area of Charlotte Sunday morning.
The crash happened near the CATS LYNX tracks at Freeland Lane and South Boulevard just after 2 a.m.
Police said Sergei Semyrog was speeding in a red Porsche when he crashed, was thrown from the vehicle and was later found on the nearby tracks. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Police believe the Porsche initially crashed in the 4000 block of Old Pineville Road when the driver lost control on a curve. Investigators said the car ran off the road and hit a fence before coming to a stop on the light rail
tracks.about 750 feet away from initial impact.
No Lynx vehicles were operating at the time of the crash, but after the wreck the Blue line as closed for hours. As of 1:45 p.m. the line was back to regular service.
