A 21-year-old woman from York is due in court Wednesday afternoon and will now face a manslaughter charge stemming from a deadly hit-and-run early Tuesday that killed a Massachusetts woman.
York police said Emily Zarnoch, 23, of Quincy, was hit by a pickup truck around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday while walking along Ridge Road with another person. Zarnoch died of her injuries several hours later at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Zarnoch's companion gave police a description of the truck and police arrested Carolyn Lee a short time later on charges of operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury. Police said Lee's GMC pickup truck had damage to its front end.
The charges against Lee were upgraded later in the day on Tuesday.
Lee is scheduled to appear at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Springvale District Court. She has been held at the York County Jail on $25,000 cash bail since her arrest.
