Goshen, IN : Teen dies in 3-car collision near Goshen on Sunday night, March 19, 2017

A teenager died in a three-car crash at the intersection of Indiana 19 and County Road 36 Sunday night, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The identity of the 17-year-old boy — who was declared dead at the crash scene — was being withheld Sunday pending family notification. The boy was one of three passengers in one of the cars. Both of the other passengers were unconscious at the scene and taken to an area hospital. The driver of that car, a 17-year-old girl, complained of pain and was also taken to an area hospital.

A 38-year-old Kentucky man who drove a different car involved in the crash also had a complaint of pain.

Police say the crash occurred just before 7:45 p.m., when a 2003 GMC Sierra truck, traveling south of Indiana 19, collided with the back left side of the silver Toyota Camry with the three passengers as the Camry was traveling eastbound through the intersection.

The GMC Sierra truck then drifted west and sideswiped a 2016 Dodge Ram pick-up truck which was traveling north on Indiana 19 and approaching County Road 36. The Kentucky man who was driving the Dodge Ram pick-up was unable to stop in time and the front his of truck hit the passenger side of the Camry.

The crash is being investigated by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department Crash Investigation Team.
