Fort Myers, FL : 9-year-old girl dies in Lehigh crash on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016
A multi-vehicle crash in Lehigh Acres Saturday night killed a 9-year-old Lehigh girl and seriously injured three others.
The three-vehicle crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m. near Lee and Sunniland boulevards. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2005 Hyundai Elantra driven by James Peffley of Lehigh Acres was headed eastbound in the left turning lane of Lee Boulevard when it turned into the path of a 2005 Mercedes AMG, which was traveling westbound on Lee Boulevard. The AMG struck the passenger side of the Elantra. The front of the AMG was then struck by a 2014 Mercedes C250, which was traveling westbound on Lee.
Nathalie Peffley, a 9-year-old passenger in the Elantra, was transported to the hospital where she died of her injuries. The three other occupants of the Elantra, including another 9-year-old child, suffered serious injuries. None of the people in the Elantra were wearing seat belts.
The two Mercedes drivers had minor injuries.
