Waupun, WI : 58-year-old man dead and 16-year-old Female with life threatening injuries in a crash occurred on Highway 26 a half mile north of Highway 151 on Saturday morning August 23rd 2014
At 9:17 a.m. on Saturday a crash occurred on Highway 26 a half mile north of Highway 151 in Dodge County near Waupun. The crash involved the death of a 58-year-old man from Waupun, and life threatening injuries to a 16-year-old Female From Capron, Ill.
According to a Wisconsin State Patrol report, a silver Pontiac being driven by a 16-year-old female was northbound on Highway 26. At the same time a silver Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 58-year-old man, was southbound on Highway 26.
According to the report, the Chevrolet Impala crossed over into the northbound lane of traffic, striking the Pontiac head on.
Both occupants were extricated from their vehicles. The female driver was transported to UW Hospital in Madison with life-threatening injuries. The male driver was transported via ambulance to Waupun Memorial Hospital, and was declared deceased upon arriving at the hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The name of the Waupun man is being withheld pending notification of family. The name of the female driver will not be released because she is a juvenile.
Investigation is ongoing.
Assisting agencies included Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, Dodge County Sheriff’s Department, Brandon-Fairwater Fire Department, Dodge County Emergency Response Team, Waupun Fire Department, Medflight, and Waupun Police Department.
