Cass County, MI : Elkhart man killed in a motorcycle crash in Cass County on April 16 2016

An Elkhart man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Michigan early Saturday morning.
Daimon Leader, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene in Mason Township, Cass County, Michigan, according to Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. The crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on M205 near Cassopolis Street.
Leader was driving on M205 when he was struck by a pick-up truck turning onto Cassopolis Road, Underwood said. The crash happened just north of Elkhart’s Simonton Lake.
The driver of the pick-up truck, a 21-year-old man also from Elkhart, was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. He has since been released from the hospital’s emergency department, according to the nursing supervisor on duty.
Helmets and seatbelts were being used at the time of the crash, Underwood said.
Cass County deputies were assisted at the scene by Porter Fire and Ambulance and the Michigan State Police. The crash is still under investigation.
