Authorities have identified a grandmother killed while crossing a west Philadelphia street with several children when she was struck by a minivan that fled the scene.
Police said 48-year-old Catherine Brown was struck at about 8 p.m. Friday and dragged her along the street and onto a cross street before she was dislodged, after which the vehicle fled.
She was pronounced dead a little more than an hour later at Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center. A 3-year-old boy was flown to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was listed in stable condition.
