Elk Grove, CA : Motorcyclist dies in collision in Laguna on Saturday, July 16, 2016

A 36-year-old man died from a motorcycle collision in Laguna during the morning of July 16.

This incident happened around 11 a.m. near the corner of Laguna Park Drive and Laguna Boulevard.

Sacramento County coroners identified the victim as Dale Funkhouser of Elk Grove.

“He was a hard-working family man who will be deeply missed,” his wife’s cousin Cynthia Veach told the Citizen.

Elk Grove police spokesperson Christopher Trim reported that a sedan driver struck Funkhouser while she was making a left turn across oncoming traffic to enter a parking lot.

The collision severely injured the victim and two witnesses treated him before paramedics arrived, Trim reported. He was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

Police reported that the sedan driver and her two passengers were taken to a hospital for review. Trim said the police investigation is ongoing.

Veach said that Funkhouser was driving home from his youngest son’s soccer game when the collision happened. She said that his family followed him home and they saw the crash. Funkhouser was the father of three children.
