New Hartford, N.Y : CNY pedestrian dies after being hit by car in early Friday morning, February 17, 2017
A 33-year-old New Hartford woman hit by a car early this morning along State Route 5 in New Hartford has died from her injuries, police said.
Linda Nemcow was walking along the road in front of the Red Samurai restaurant at 5:30 a.m. when she was hit by a car driven by Stephen Hale, 34, of New Hartford, according to New Hartford police.
Police said Nemcow was walking in a westerly direction in the driving lane when she was hit. The area where she was walking was dimly lit and she was wearing dark clothing, police said.
Newcow was struck by the front plow area of a pick-up truck being driven in an easterly direction by Hale, police said.
Nemcow was immediately assisted at the scene by Edwards ambulance emergency medical technicians who were driving behind Hale along Route 5, New Hartford police said.
No tickets have been issued, and the investigation into the crash is continuing.
