A crash within the city limits of Cheyenne Wednesday resulted in the death of Dennis Noack, 74, of Pine Bluffs, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at 8:10 p.m. near milepost 363 on Interstate 80, which is about one mile west of the College Drive exit. According to a news release from the Patrol, Noack was driving a 2004 Toyota Solara eastbound on I-80 and rear-ended a 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by Karl Musgrave, 57, of Cheyenne. The collision caused the Jeep and Toyota to trip and roll into the south ditch after the initial collision.
Noack was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, suffering fatal injuries. Musgrave and a 55-year-old female passenger were both wearing seatbelts and were not ejected. Both were treated at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and were released.
The Highway Patrol is investigating speed and lane use as contributing factors to the crash.
This crash marked the 76th highway fatality in Wyoming in 2016. There were 100 fatalities during the same time period in 2015.
