2 escape injury after tractor-trailer crash on I-95 in Dyer Brook
Two men escaped injury early Wednesday after a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 95.
State police Sgt. Josh Haines said in a written statement that the accident happened about 12:30 a.m. near mile marker 281 in Dyer Brook.
According to Haines, Lamar Meriweather, 27, of St. Louis, Mo., was driving north in a 1997 Western Star tractor-trailer owned by Big Rock Transportation of East Peru, Ind., when he lost control of the rig.
The vehicle careened off the road into a snowbank. A passenger, 26-year-old Michael Taylor, was asleep in the sleeper portion of the cab.
Meriwether was wearing his seat belt and neither occupant was injured. The tractor-trailer unit was damaged, but was able to be driven from the scene after it was towed out of the ditch later Wednesday morning. The interstate was shut down for a short time during that period.
Trooper Tim Saucier investigated the crash.
