Denver, CO : Man injured after crashing sled at Chautauqua Park on Tuesday, 20th November 2018

A 23-year-old man sustained injuries to his lower body Tuesday afternoon after he struck a rock while sledding at Chautauqua Park.

Cody Jacobs was sledding west of Blue Bell Road just before 2 p.m. when the crash occurred, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office stated in a news release. His friend went to the nearby ranger cottage to call for help.

Medical personnel cared for Jacobs at the scene, and members of Rocky Mountain Rescue Group carried him to an ambulance waiting on Baseline Road. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The entire rescue effort took about an hour and 15 minutes. Sheriff's deputies, Boulder Fire Rescue, Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and American Medical Response ambulance also responded.
