Phoenix, AZ : Pedestrian killed after hit-and-run crash near Indian School Road on Wednesday evening, April 1, 2015
A pedestrian attempted to cross 27th Avenue near Glenrosa Avenue Wednesday night and was struck and killed by two vehicles, according to Phoenix police.
The man made several attempts to cross 27th Avenue eastbound in front of theWillow Springs Apartmentslate Wednesday when he eventually stepped into the inside northbound lane and was struck by the first vehicle, a black Toyota track, police said.
The driver of the Toyota truck did not stop and left the scene northbound, according to investigators.
The impact of the collision knocked the man into the middle lane where he came to rest and was struck a second time by a black Ford Expedition, police said.
The Ford Expedition driver stopped momentarily and then drove away, detectives said.
A witness to the incident described the pedestrian as appearing to be intoxicated and unsure about crossing, police said.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collisions and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The case remains under investigation by police.
