PHOENIX, AZ : 6 kids, man hospitalized after crash in north Phoenix on Sunday, 14th May 2023

A teen boy is dead and his family is hospitalized after they were hit by a wrong-way driver who police say failed to stop at a stop sign in north Phoenix early Sunday morning. The boy has been identified as 13-year-old Josiah Boteilho, while police say the driver of the wrong-way truck is 36-year-old Bartolome Godinez-Perez.

Around 8 a.m. Sunday, rescue crews responded to a two-car crash near 30th Street and Greenway Road. Police say Godinez-Perez was driving a pickup truck heading south on 31st Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign and drove the wrong way on Greenway Road. The truck then crashed into a car with a family of two adults and five children inside. All members of the family were taken to the hospital where Josiah died from injuries.
