Wilson, PA : Woman dies after hit by SUV vehicle in Wilson on Friday January 29 2016

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a crash Friday afternoon in Wilson Borough in which a pedestrian was fatally injured, borough police report.
Marc Delserro, 36, of Wilson, was driving a 2001 Nissan Xterra west just before 3:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of Northampton Street when he struck a woman, police said early Saturday.
The woman was transported to St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill, where she died, police said. Her name will be released by the Lehigh County Coroner's Office once her family is notified.
A woman driving by at the time of the crash said the pedestrian, an older woman, flew over the top of the vehicle upon impact.
If I didn't move first the truck was going to hit me," the witness told lehighvalleylive.com. Shaken up after the incident, she spoke under the condition that her name not be used.
Delserro was injured, police said, after the SUV hit a fire hydrant and crashed into the facade at Davis Optical, coming to a rest on the sidewalk. He was taken to nearby Easton Hospital for treatment; the injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
Police did not detail why they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. They said more information would be released at a later time. The investigation is continuing into the wreck that shut the busy street for a time. Police did not say charges were filed.
Borough police were assisted by Pennsylvania State Police, the Northampton County District Attorney's Office, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office and the borough fire department, police said.
