CARLISLE TOWNSHIP, OH : A 37-year-old man died on Friday, July 14, 2017

A 37-year-old man died after he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown and struck by an oncoming car, State Highway Patrol reports.

The crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. Friday on Grafton Road, south of Hope Court, according to a news release from Highway Patrol.

Andrew S. Johnson, of Elyria, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

Johnson was driving a 2004 Yamaha XV1700 northwest on Grafton Road when he lost control and was thrown from the bike.

A 1941 Ford Sedan Delivery was driving southeast when Johnson landed in the southbound lane of Grafton Road. The car struck Johnson, the release says.

A 56-year-old woman driving the car was not hurt, the release says. She was checked out by LifeCare Emergency Medical Services at the scene.

Highway Patrol is investigating what caused Johnson to lose control of the motorcycle.
