PROVIDENCE, RI : Woman struck, killed by bus in downtown Providence on Wednesday, 24th August, 2016
Police have identified a woman who was struck and killed by a bus while crossing a downtown Providence street.
Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Michelle Cagnon.
Authorities say the Cumberland resident was crossing Washington Street in Kennedy Plaza when she was struck by a Peter Pan bus turning left at about 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare says the crash was caught on several surveillance cameras at Kennedy Plaza. He says investigators are reviewing the footage to reconstruct the crash.
Police have identified the bus driver as Matthew Reidy of Taunton, Massachusetts.
Pare says the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
No other information was immediately available.
