Oxnard, CA : David Bejar, 65, killed in crash on Fifth Street on Wednesday, June 29, 2016

An Oxnard man was killed just after 3 p.m. Wednesday when his small sedan collided with a sport utility vehicle on East Fifth Street west of Wood Road near Oxnard.

The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office on Thursday identified the driver as David Bejar, 65, of Oxnard. He died of blunt force trauma, the medical examiner said.

The California Highway Patrol said the Bejar was driving east on Fifth Street when his car crossed over the centerline and into the path of the SUV.

Bejar was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where he later died. The driver of the SUV, a 69-year-old Oxnard resident, was not injured. Both vehicles sustained major damage.

The accident is still under investigation and the CHP is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call 477-4100.
