A Dallas man was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Mitchell County Monday evening.

Two passengers in the vehicle also were injured, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Clemente Gallegos Ramos, 51, of Dallas, was killed at 6:30 p.m. Monday when the Dodge pickup he was driving struck a guardrail while traveling west on Interstate 20, one mile east of Colorado City, DPS said Tuesday.

According to the preliminary crash report, a tire tread came off, sending the vehicle into a side-skid into the guardrail. The vehicle flipped onto its top and skidded to a rest on the highway.

One of the passengers, Juventina Ramos, 77, of Durango, Texas, was taken to a Lubbock hospital with serious injuries, DPS said. A second passenger, Maria Gallegos, 40, of Dallas, also was taken to the Lubbock hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash is still under investigation, DPS said.
