Investigators with the Largo Police Department are asking for the public's help in tracking down a driver that fled the scene of a fatal crash early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred just after 12:30 am near the intersection of US 19 North and 150th Ave.
According to a LPD report officers were dispatched to that location in response to a traffic crash. When they arrived at the scene they found the driver of a 2014 Red Bash motor scooter had been killed.
Daniel Irizzary, a 37-year-old Largo resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The report states a 2004 Nissan Maxima struck the scooter from behind. The impact ejected Irizzary from the vehicle and into the roadway. The driver of the Maxima immediately stopped but a second vehicle ran over the deceased and failed to stop.
The vehicle is described as a dark-colored, four-door compact car that was missing one or more hubcaps. It also had black steel wheels according to witnesses. The official cause of the crash is still under investigation.
