A Bridgeville woman died Wednesday in a crash on Interstate 79.

According to state police, Ciara Jordan Atkinson, 26, of Pennsylvania Avenue, was traveling northbound at mile marker 43, North Strabane Township, around 3:15 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, which struck a guardrail and came to rest in the median. Atkinson, who police said was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at 4:05 p.m.

She was the only occupant of the car.

The cause and manner of death are pending. State police are investigating. Canonsburg Ambulance and North Strabane Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
