LAKE ANN, MI : Two people died following a crash in Benzie County near Lake Ann on Thursday, 26th July 2018

Two people died following a crash in Benzie County that set at least one car ablaze near Lake Ann.

The collision drew Benzie County sheriff’s deputies to the scene at 5 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Cedar Run Road and Reynolds Road in Almira Township, near Lake Ann. Deputies determined 21-year-old Tristan Clay, of Lake Ann, died when the pickup truck he drove ran a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a passing car, according to a sheriff’s department press release.

Clay’s truck hit a vehicle and killed the driver Payton Carpenter, 19, of Lake Ann, according to the press release. Carpenter’s 19-year-old female passenger, from Benzie County, survived the crash and received treatment at Munson Medical Center, the press release states.

Michigan State Police officials continue investigating the crash.
