Jacksonville, NC : Charges filed in single-car crash on Sunday, March 26th 2017
Jacksonville, North Carolina
Speeding may have been a factor in a single-car crash over the weekend.
Bryan Bartow, 25, of Elkton, Maryland was driving a 2007 BMW on 4th Street in Maysville near the Pole Pocosin Road intersection around 1:21 a.m. Sunday when the car crossed the center line, according to Jones County Highway Patrol.
Bartow was allegedly driving 65 miles-per-hour in a 55 miles-per-hour section of the road, according to the Highway Patrol.
The BMW then ran off the road to the left, struck a ditch, hit several trees and overturned, coming to rest on the right side, according to the Highway Patrol.
Angelo Masiello, 29, of Maysville, was a passenger in the BMW and was treated and released at Vidant Medical Center, according to the hospital. Neither Vidant nor Onslow Memorial Hospital had patient information for Bartow, which may mean he opted for patient privacy.
The Highway Patrol did not have information about injuries or transportation on their report.
Bartow was charged with exceeding a safe speed, driving left of center, and not wearing a seatbelt, according to the Highway Patrol.
Impairment is suspected, according to the Highway Patrol, but the test results have not come in yet.
