Bend, OR : Driver in semi crash dies at St. Charles Bend on Monday, 21st May 2018
The 77-year-old Bend man who crashed his Ford Fiesta into a semitruck in late April has died, Redmond Police reported Monday.
Michael Henderson died at St. Charles Bend on Friday as a result of his injuries, police said. Police still don’t know why his car crossed the center line, but they don’t believe alcohol, drugs or distracted driving caused the crash.
Henderson was driving his Ford Fiesta east on SW Highland Avenue in Redmond midday on April 27 when he crossed the center line and crashed into the rear axle of a westbound semitruck driven by Dennis Tewes, 63, of Lebec, California.
Tewes was not injured, but Henderson was unconscious and not breathing when police arrived. He was airlifted to St. Charles Bend for treatment.
