Pollard, AR : Clay County man seriously injured in crash on Highway 62, east of Pollard on Sunday, April 12, 2015

A Region 8 man was flown to a Memphis hospital following a serious crash in Clay County.

The accident was reported at 7:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 62 just east of Pollard, according to Sheriff Terry Miller.

When deputies arrived they found an MFA fertilizer truck had run off the road, trapping the driver inside, Miller said.

Arkansas State Police and emergency crews with the Pollard and Piggott Fire Departments, as well as the Piggott Ambulance Service, worked with deputies to free George Wellman from the truck.

Wellman was flown to The MED in Memphis with serious injuries.
