DETROIT, MI : Good Samaritans helping crash victims hit by possible drunken driver on April, Sunday 2nd 2017
Michigan State Police say nine people were injured, including two Good Samaritans, after a crash on Sunday morning on eastbound I-96 near Davison.
According to MSP, a Jeep carrying six people lost control and struck the median wall, causing it to roll before stopping in the left lane.
Several motorists stopped to start helping the people inside the jeep when a second vehicle traveling eastbound lost control and slammed into them.
MSP says the second vehicle hit the people who were outside of their cars at the time of impact.
The freeway was shut down for hours as police investigated.
In all, police say three people were critically injured in the crash, including the driver of the second vehicle and two Good Samaritans, a 17-year-old man and 47-year-old woman.
Alcohol does appear to be a factor in the second vehicle's crash, according to MSP.
