Augusta, GA : Thomson woman dies in single-car accident on Thursday, January 26th 2017

A 47-year-old woman was killed in a single-car accident Thursday morning after her vehicle struck a guardrail and flipped upside down.

Nicole Prater, 47, of Thomson died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries, authorities said.

The wreck occurred near mile marker 180 in the eastbound lane of Interstate 20. Prater, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet, was reportedly wearing a seat belt, but the accident was likely due to the tread on her tires, according to the Columbia County coroner’s office.

She was pronounced dead at 8:16 a.m.
