Bloomington, IN : Indianapolis man dies in car crash north of Bloomington on Saturday, July 16, 2016

An Indianapolis man died following a car accident north of Bloomington at Crossover Road and Ind. 37.

Just before 10 p.m. Saturday, a 1965 Chevrolet pickup truck driven northbound by Joseph Birtchman, 33, crossed the median and continued into the southbound lanes, according to a news release.

While in the southbound lanes, the truck collided with a 2005 Chrysler minivan driven by Victoria Wielosinski, of Bloomington, who could not avoid collision with the vehicle. It is unclear at this time why the vehicle crossed the median, according to the release.

She was transported to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Birtchman was also transported to IU Health, where he was later pronounced dead.
