Bowling Green, KY : Scottsville woman killed in Cemetery Road wreck on Saturday, December 31, 2016

A 28-year-old Scottsville woman died Saturday in a traffic accident in Warren County.

Amanda Cheek was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner's Office following the 3:33 p.m., single-vehicle wreck in the 9000 block of Cemetery Road, said Stephen Harmon, Warren County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

The sheriff's office responded to the accident after a volunteer firefighter alerted authorities, Harmon said.

According to witnesses, Cheek was traveling toward Bowling Green on Cemetery Road – Kentucky Highway 234 – in her 2007 Honda Civic, when she lost control and left the roadway,

"The vehicle struck a tree with its top and came to rest on its wheels against the tree," Harmon said Saturday in a news release.

The rain-covered roadway and speed are believed to be factors in the collision, Harmon said.

All other details of the accident remain under investigation.
