COWICHE, WA : Injured orchard tractor driver taken to Harborview on Tuesday, October 3, 2017

A 24-year-old Yakima man was hospitalized Tuesday morning after he was run over by the tractor he had been driving.

The man was working in an orchard around 10:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Thompson Road in Cowiche, according to Yakima County sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Russell.

He drove a tractor out of a row of trees and hit a bin of apples that was on another tractor, causing him to lose control, Russell said. He jumped off the tractor, but ended up chasing after it to get it to stop, Russell said.

During the chase, the 24-year-old fell underneath one of the wheels, Russell said.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Information on his condition was not available Tuesday.
