Waterloo, IA : Four injured in Charles City crash on Tuesday afternoon, December 20, 2016

Four people --- including two children --- were taken to hospitals following a crash in Charles City Tuesday afternoon.

Heather Meyer, 52, of Bassett, Mary Jane Schmitz, 11, of Ionia, and Anthony Schmitz, 44, of Ionia, were taken to the St. Mary's Hospital-Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for treatment, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Miley Schmitz, 10, of Ionia, was taken to Floyd County Medical Center.

The two-vehicle crash happened at about 4:50 p.m. on Highway 18 west of Commercial Avenue.

According to troopers, Anthony Schmitz was driving a Buick Terraza west on Highway 18 when the vehicle allegedly crossed the center line and collided head on with Meyer’s eastbound GMC Denali.
