Fort Stewart, GA: Fort Stewart soldier cradles little boy after accident on Friday, July 24th 2015
An accident on Leroy Coffer highway in Hinesville yesterday became a heroic yet tragic scene. WTOC had the chance to speak with a woman who cradled a little boy in her arms until emergency services arrived. On Thursday, Private Antigone Morgan lived up to her name, she gave her all to comfort a young boy looking down at his bloody hands after the boy was thrown from a vehicle during a bad accident near Pate Rogers Road.Pfc. Morgan explained the accident to us saying, ""It was a head-on collision and I jumped out to help and I saw there was a child involved."Only seconds after witnessing a terrible wreck, Antigone ran to be with a young toddler on the ground. Her mind was racing, wanting to help everyone."I cared about everybody at the accident but my main concern was the children, especially the one that got ejected from car."The boy quickly started to discover what was happening, but Private Morgan cradled him and got him out of the heat. He knew he was in pain but he also knew he had Antigone."You know I was bouncing him up and down, I said baby boy you are doing good. All he kept saying was ouchie ouchie ouchie like he was in so much pain."Some of the pain would subside after some time, and some kisses."I know baby boy it is going to be ok and I am bouncing him and he holds out both of his hands and says kiss them, so I kissed them and he didn't even realize the pain in his hands once I kissed them."Hugs and kisses, 19-year-old private Antigone Morgan credits her Army training for her calm demeanor and attention to detail. 30 minutes later her little champion made his way to memorial along with three other family members."I am sure that when he grows up he will always have the story of the soldier who came and helped him, I would love to see him when he gets older, right now I hope that he heals and that he and his cousin heal. I hope the whole family moves on from this in a healthy way."Pfc. Morgan is receiving overwhelming support for her good deed as she should."My sergeants are like, don't you know you are my favorite sergeant. So it is pretty cool, everyone is pretty proud."
