DOVER TOWNSHIP, MI : Motorcyclist wife suffer life-threatening injuries in Lenawee Co crash on Sunday, 2nd June 2024

A married couple is fighting for their lives after an 87-year-old turned in front of their motorcycle Sunday evening in Lenawee County, Michigan, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The sheriff’s office says a 54-year-old man and his 50-year-old wife from Newport were on their 1999 Yamaha Motorcycle traveling eastbound on West Carleton Road near the intersection with Benner Highway.

The 87-year-old woman, who is from the Clayton area, was driving westbound on Carleton Road when she tried to turn southbound on to Benner Highway, deputies said. She turned in front of the motorcycle, and the driver was unable to avoid hitting the car, according to the sheriff’s office.

The couple on the motorcycle were taken to a hospital in Jackson with serious, life-threatening injuries. They were wearing helmets, the sheriff’s office said.
